The NZ Central Southern Muslim Youth & Sports Association Inc. was established to empower, support, and inspire Muslim youth and communities across New Zealand through sports, education, and community engagement.
Our mission is to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where young people can develop their skills, build confidence, and strengthen their faith while fostering unity and friendship. We believe sports and community activities are powerful tools that bring people together, promote healthy lifestyles, and encourage teamwork, leadership, and resilience.

Mayor Grant Smith is the current Mayor of Palmerston North City in New Zealand. He is the 29th Mayor of the City, and was elected in early 2015, He is proactive in supporting international relationships. He is the current president of Global Cities New Zealand where Palmerston North has sister City relationships with Guiyang and Kunshan in China, Mihara in Japan, and Missoula, Montana in the USA.
Grant, prior to entering the Mayoral office, has had an extensive business background in advertising and marketing, as well as managing multiple international sporting and cultural events. He has also served on numerous national cultural, sporting and business boards before becoming Mayor.
He has championed the international programme Palmerston North City runs, leading several overseas delegations to Australia, Asia, USA and Europe. These support key city sectors of Innovation & Science, Food Research, International Education, Sport & Events, Defence, and Trade.
Mayor Smith has also served on the National Council and was previously the Metro sector chair for Local Govt New Zealand.
